Ferns Community
Archaeological excavations and physical evidence in existing buildings indicate that a community has existed in Ferns from pre-historic times. Despite the vastly different circumstances which exist today 4,000 years after the first established evidence of human habitation we have today an excellent and varied range of community activities from the arts to sports and a vibrant business sector which provides a range of goods and services.

History and Ferns are intertwined in a unique way and this is reflected in the existence of one of many castles in Wexford- Ferns Castle which dates from the Norman period and the extensive tapestry developed by the local Ferns Tapestry group which details the history of our village from earliest times.

The new Dean of Ferns Rev. Dr. Paul Mooney and his family got a warm welcome to Ferns recently. He is pictured on the right with his wife Soonduk outside St. Edan’s Cathedral, Ferns after his installation. There were many well wishers in attendance and at the reception afterwards in St. Mogue’s Cottage.

Lodgewood Engineering had a very successful Open Day in aid of Acquired Brain Injuries recently. The celebrity lawn mower race was a really great success and the picture on left shows celebrity entrants Paul McGrath and Billy Byrne being interviewed with William Plummer on South East Radio.
