Ruins of medieval Cathedral

To the north east of the present Cathedral lie ruins which were thought to be the remainder of the Bishop John St. John cathedral (1220) - some of the orignal Gothic tracery is still to be seen. However research and surveys conducted by The Discovery Programme have pointed to the possibility that, rather than being the main Cathedral, these ruins could be a Chapter Room or other high status stucture. We look forward to further surveys to uncover the secrets of this area
